American Girl Camp Debuts at Burlington Dance Center 6-27-2016

Burlington Dance American Girl Camp 2016
Well, I am a mother of three boys ages 11, 19, and 23 (next week). I can name all the Thomas the Tank Engines, all the dinosaurs, Pokemon cards, Bruder Trucks, Nerf Guns, football positions, just to name a few. When it comes to American Girl Dolls I have to admit that I am not informed! I have heard and seen my dancers over the years talk about AGD with pure love in their eyes. I was amazed to hear their stories, the hair, then clothes, etc. When I was in NYC two summers ago I walked into the American Girl Doll store and could not believe my eyes. It was a little girl’s dream filled with dolls, clothes, hair salon, etc. I saw Isabelle, the ballerina doll and I knew at that very moment that I would hold an American Girl Doll camp at BDC.

I reached out to my resident expert Stephanie Wright. Her daughter Katie has taken dance at Burlington Dance Center for 5 years. Stephanie has planned an incredible week for these lucky dancers. She brought decorations, crafts, games, and of course dolls….lots of them!

We started the day out by assigning “big sisters” to “little sister”. We then had our normal ballet class complete with our French terms. Today was “Grace” day. Grace traveled to France so everything was ooh la la! We danced the Can-Can and played American Girl Bingo! We made eye covers for our dolls when they visit the spa. We colored “Grace” while watching a video on Grace. One of my favorite activities was watching the dancers work together with their big sister constructing their Eiffel Towers out of spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. So many sweet little girls eyeballed their marshmallows but continued to build with them. I finally had one brave ballerina ask “Miss Kim, can I eat a marshmallow?”….of course! Such polite little ballerinas!

Cannot wait to start tomorrow special tropical day!

Love,

Miss Kim
