Bollywood Master Dance Class at Burlington Dance Center

At Burlington Dance Center, dancers are trained in the art of ballet. We love any opportunity to enrich our dancers by exposing them to different styles of dance.  I met Neelam Patel recently at a dance showcase at NC State University.  My eye was immediately drawn to Ms. Patel and I was amazed with her style, energy, and passion for her craft.  After the show I went up to her and introduced myself and asked her if she would like to do a master class.  Ms. Patel excitedly agreed!

About Bollywood

Bollywood, born out of the Hindi film industry in India, is a fusion of classic and traditional Indian dances with hip-hop, jazz, modern, salsa, folk, and a hint of belly dancing thrown in for good measure. It’s typically performed to Indian music and features sharp, controlled movements with high energy. Complex hand positions (mudras) and unique facial expressions (abhinaya) are often incorporated into a Bollywood dance.

Come out to learn the Bollywood basics including styles such as: Bhangra, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Garba fused into a fun energetic routine as you get a glimpse of Indian culture while you’re at it!
