I am so excited to be back in Alamance County! After living in Hickory for 6 years, we are moving back to the area where I grew up! I am coming back with my husband, Nick, and my 2 children, Corbin and Adeline. We are looking forward to being closer to my parents and I am absolutely thrilled that I have this opportunity to work with Betsy and Kim at Burlington Dance Center!
I started dancing at the age of 2 and have loved it ever since! My mother started me in tap and ballet at her Mebane studio, Patty Laws School of Dance, and then I continued with her at Burlington Academy of Dance and Arts when it was founded in 1987. I trained there until I graduated high school, and then over the next 9 years I taught ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and KinderMotions at BADA. For the past 4 years, I have been teaching at Clater Kaye Theatreworks in Hickory, where I have learned so much about training triple threat actors and dancers. In addition to my 13 years as a dance teacher, I also have an early childhood teaching degree and enjoyed teaching in the public school systems for 10 years until I decided to become a stay at home mom!
Over the years I have been fortunate to train at North Carolina School of the Arts, attend countless dance conventions and workshops, and study under wonderful teachers in a wide variety of disciplines! With this training, I have learned how to facilitate creativity through movement and I enjoy sharing that with my students. As a teacher, I enjoy watching each student grow and develop their own love for dance! Dance has always been such a huge part of my life, and I am looking forward to working with the students at Burlington Dance Center!
